Let’s dive into three incredible builders from the Bible who had a divine mission that impacts us today—Noah, Solomon, and Jesus. Each one was chosen by God to create something amazing for a specific purpose.
Noah – the Ark Builder
Noah is known as the ultimate ark builder. He was tasked with constructing an enormous boat to save his family and pairs of every animal species from a catastrophic flood. His name means “rest” or “comfort,” and he found grace in God’s eyes (Genesis 6:8). For nearly 100 years, while building the ark, he preached about righteousness—a true testament to faith! There was room enough for whoever would want to enter the ARK…
But the irony of it all, was that even after all his preaching, just eight souls, including Noah, went into the ark. The flood came- when Noah was about 600 years old (Genesis 7:6), and it wasn’t just about survival; it was about trusting in God’s promises.
- Solomon – the Temple Builder
King David dreamed of building a temple for God; He was sopped by prophet Nathan and given a promise – Not he, but his son would build. And so, there is a place for each one of us to step back and let God be!
1 Chronicles 22:9, 10 reads: Behold, a son shall be born to you, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies all around. His name shall be Solomon, for I will give peace and quietness to Israel in his days. He shall build a house for My name, and He shall be My son, and I will be his Father…
So instead, his son Solomon took on the monumental task. In just seven years, Solomon built an awe-inspiring temple where God’s presence dwelled (1 Chronicles 22:9-10). Imagine being part of such history! That place became central to worship and community in Israel.

Jesus – the Church Builder
Fast forward to Jesus—the ultimate game changer! Born to save humanity from sin (Matthew 1:21), He didn’t focus on physical buildings like temples; instead, He spoke about something greater. When asked for proof of His authority during a temple cleansing event, He said they could destroy that temple—and in three days, He would raise it up again (John 2:19-21). Crazy right? But what He meant was His body—signifying that we are now His church! In Matthew 16:18–19, Jesus declares His intention to build His church on Peter’s confession of faith. This isn’t just about structures; it’s about people living out their faith together!

n our fast-paced world—especially in cities like Mumbai—it can feel overwhelming with all the hustle and bustle. Like Lamech lamented over toil in Genesis 5:29—we need rest! And guess what? That’s where Jesus comes in: “Come to Me if you’re weary—I’ll give you REST” (Matthew 11:28).
This year has been challenging for many due to the Covid break! Maybe it’s time we hit pause too! Just like Noah built his ark or Solomon constructed his temple—we have an opportunity now more than ever to build our own faith lives and communities centered around Christ.
So let’s embrace this moment! Find your Noah for comfort when times get tough; look towards your Solomon who inspires diligence and dedication; ultimately turn your heart toward JESUS—the cornerstone upon which everything rests.
Get ready—let’s start building not just structures but lives filled with hope and purpose through Him!
