Meditations on Isaiah 53 (Part-5)
Let me first say this! The GOOD NEWS in Isaiah 53 is to be read together with John 12 and Romans 10 and see everything in the right perspective. In John 11, Lazarus is raised from the dead. In John 12, Jesus talks of his own death and resurrection. Similarly, in Romans 10 there are many quotes from Isaiah when Paul explains our salvation in Christ Jesus through the death and resurrection of Christ Jesus.
In Isaiah 53, we see Jesus as God’s Righteous Servant, the Messiah, the Sin-Bearer, Peace Maker, Barrier-breaker, Gift Giver – Righteousness, Light and Riches. Today we come to the fifth part of the Gospel from Isaiah 53.
5. Gospel of being God’s Children: His Seed, His satisfaction
The gospel is not about us – how good we are or how good we become when we receive Jesus. It’s all about Him – Christ Jesus. And it will be that way till this things down here gets wrapped up. If we are not pointing at Jesus, we will only be making our own disciples, and our carbon-copies, never better than us – loyal to us, maybe yes; loyal to the local church, yes. But never growing into the fullness God intends for each one of us.
Always remember, there is only ONE MEDIATOR between God and man – the Man Jesus. By faith in Christ Jesus, God is now our Father. And nothing pleases God the Father, except seeing His Seed in you.
No, not the best of your intentions, or the best of your ability (read stage praise and staged worship), and no, not even your all-time availability. All that you ever do is only through His grace supplied through Christ Jesus. Therefore, we must never lose sight of these verses in Isaiah 53.
Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief, when you make His soul an offering for sin. He shall see His seed, He shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in His hand. He shall see the labor of His soul, and be satisfied.
