Bring the Original

Modeling Your Life After Christ

“See that you make all things according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.”

Hebrews 8:5

When on a job offer, we clear one level, generally there is the next level – interview (in India), where we are asked to BRING THE ORIGINALS.

And so file is kept ready with original mark-lists, proof of identity, proof of residence, college degree certificates and so on (All these when the copies of the documents had already been submitted). Trust issues or safety checks?

Anyway, that’s the life here on earth. Get by with just the copies, till you become the Chosen one. And then the copies lose their significance.

Even for Moses, this was the case, when he erected the Tabernacle of God in the wilderness. The original was shown him on the (heavenly) mountain and he had to make a copy on earth. Symbolic, temporary till the original arrives on the scene.

Case is of the Old (copy) and the New (original) covenant of God to mankind.

Old – Moses the mediator, New – Jesus the Mediator;

Old- Law, glory that is passing away, New – Grace, glory that lingers;

Old-dependent on works, New- dependent on God’s promises

Old- Levitical order high-priests who stand and minister, New- order of Melchizedek who sat down at the right hand if the Father

Old- gifts and offerings as per law compulsion, New- gifts and offering by sheer choice, cheerfully

Old- circumcised in the flesh, New- circumcision made without hands in the heart;

Old- symbols are Mount Sinai, Egypt, Hagar, New- symbols of Mount Zion, Canaan, Sarah;

Old- many sacrifices, yet brings judgment, condemnation and death, New- One sacrifice, that brings life and peace in Christ Jesus;

Old – Letter that kills, New – Spirit that gives life.

Ephesians 2:8 NLT
God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.

Ditch the old (Old is NOT gold) Hold on to the New. Cast away the copy, cling to the original.
